Inner Journeys

Consultation and Coaching

Within and beyond the traditional walls of the academic classroom, Alicia creates space for her students and clients to honor the intelligence of their bodies and access the wisdom and creative flow already residing within themselves. Alicia has worked as a professional educator for nearly twenty years, teaching English, art, creative writing, wellness, and yoga to people of many ages. In her work in the classroom and as a learning coach, Alicia incorporates her training in body work and energy healing, inviting students to engage somatic practices such as breathing, movement, and EFT to optimize their creative practices and/or learning experiences.

All of Alicia’s offerings are rooted in the holistic understanding that the intellectual body is connected to the physical and the energetic, that disembodied ways of being, those that fragment intellectual mind from the physical and energetic body, often lead to distress and burnout. We thrive creatively when we listen to the wisdom of our bodies. See offerings below.

Offerings

  • Creative Consultation

From the emerging ideas to the final draft, I provide coaching and support for folks on their creative projects. I’ve supported creatives working on memoirs, scripts, short stories, and novels. I’ve helped build visions and then designed pitch decks. I guide clients at any stage of the process, providing prompts, feedback, deadlines, editing, and support in revision.

  • Embodied Learning Sessions

Rather than simply jumping into pen and paper in the manner of traditional tutoring, these sessions integrate breath, EFT, and other somatic practices with more traditional tutoring approaches. As someone with nearly twenty years of teaching and learning with ADHD and high sensitivity and as a former English teacher, I have gathered learning and somatic tools and strategies that harness the essential connection between the body and intellect, beginning by preparing the nervous system for learning. This approach is particularly useful for HSP and folks with ADHD, but is beneficial for all learners. I support students of a range of ages, from those working with early literacy skills to adults needing learning help, especially around reading comprehension, literary analysis, essay composition, and other needs related to English and Language Arts.

  • Workshop Facilitation

*Tapping Through the Blocks: EFT for Creatives
