Rebel Wom!n Words, Ways and Wonders
Writing about my experiences has been an essential part of my healing process. Following a call from Epifania Akusoa Ammoo-Adare and Rapti Siriwardane-de Zoysa for work to contribute to their “Anthology of Non-Conformism” brought forth some of the healing reflection that continues to lead me, closer and closer, to my truest self. Fittingly, the editors of this powerful anthology placed my essay in the section entitled, “Being and Becoming”; I write about my constantly developing relationship with what Alexis Pauline Gumbs calls “Revolutionary Mothering.”
Reading the work of others in An Anthology of Non-Conformism: Rebel Wom!n Words, Ways and Wonders has me terribly moved and honored to be included. Aside from the fact that it is beautifully curated, the book will strengthen you with its stories of rebellion and nonconformity as transformation and connection. As I read I feel both awe of and affinity with my co-contributors. We were spread out around the globe, but we formed a small community through an email thread. On Saturday, June 1st, we will be coming all together for the first time for a public book launch over Zoom.
